PROJECT EXPERIENCE
A slaughterhouse facility based in north-central Connecticut required CME's assistance to responded to DEP requests for analysis of the facility's wastewater and stormwater drain systems. CME conducted a detailed field survey of facility piping, including dye testing, and prepared a facility site plan, showing the origins, construction, routes and termination points of all interior and exterior drains. This study corrected a number of mapping errors made by previous consultants regarding the entrance and discharge points of various drains. CME also provided a plan to modify the facility's standard operations and monitoring practices to ensure compliance with the DEP's General Permit for the Discharge of Stormwater Associated with Industrial Activity. Additionally, CME provided weekly progress reports on behalf of as required in the DEP Order. CME's efforts satisfied the DEP with regard to the stormwater enforcement issues, and led to closure of the DEP Order.
