Bridge Rating & Design

The Structural & Transportation Engineering Group conducts inspections and forensic investigations of existing bridges to determine the current condition and expected lifespan of these structures. They also design repairs for bridges in need of emergency attention or replacements for those that have become functionally obsolete.

Featured Projects

PARK STREET BRIDGE
Manchester, CT :: CME provided the design and construction inspection for this bridge replacement project. The existing bridge was a three span steel frame supported on stone and concrete foundations. The new structure is a two span weathering steel bridge. Architectural features such as stone form liner, concrete parapets and a decorative fence were incorporated in order to complement the adjacent historic Cheney Mills. The original stone abutments that date back to the 1800s were salvaged.
