CME is proud to offer Green Building consulting services to municipal,
commercial and multi-family residential developers.
Our staff is committed
to crafting customized solutions that minimize impact on the natural
surroundings while providing a healthy, energy-efficient living space for
everyday work and play.
By collaborating with our environmental, architectural, civil and structural
engineering groups, in partnership with developers and municipalities,
we are able to offer suggestions that help create living environments that are
sustainable, responsible, long-term answers
to ecologic and economic stresses.
The goal of green building is to reduce the environmental impact
of human
habitation. Green Building practices require the use of environmentally sustainable
construction methods incorporating energy and water efficient systems
and bio-safe materials. Typically, LEED Certified buildings are constructed
utilizing long-life components, reducing the need for replacement and disposal;
recycled, reused or re-purposed existing salvaged (used) materials;
alternative clean energy sources to offset emissions from conventional resources;
efficient potable water systems and greywater reuse measures to minimize
sewage discharge; energy-efficient fixtures and appliances; environmentally-
friendly paints and sealants; building site positioning and window placement
for maximum solar benefit; and organic, native, natural landscaping.
By implementing many green building strategies, developers, homeowners, and
communities can benefit from a reduction in waste, lower costs of construction,
operation and maintenance, and the renewal of a healthy, enduring environment.
