CME is currently in the process of producing a comprehensive Plan of Conservation and Development (POCD) document for the City of Middletown, CT that clearly articulates strategies to help guide the future conservation, development, and infrastructure of Middletown for the next 10 years.
Our team is working diligently to assemble and assess all of the existing data to incorporate any applicable updates in consultation with City staff and public officials. Our team is also drawing upon the City’s and the COG’s GIS resources to develop a set of base maps, developing updated data layers and producing a series of graphical representations of Middletown’s key resource and development priorities.
In consultation with the City of Middletown, the project team has developed a tailored approach to public involvement through both targeted and broadly-inclusive public outreach. Using a variety of platforms and techniques, our team has created effective, productive and consensus building engagement opportunities including interactive community charrettes, listening sessions, print and web surveys, press releases, a dedicated project webpage, and social media advertisements in order to get the public engaged and involved.
Following all pertinent data review, mapping updates and the conclusion of all the community outreach process, the project team will work in collaboration with Middletown Planning, Conservation and Development staff to draft a clear, comprehensive, visionary, and practical Plan update. The result will be a cutting edge, comprehensive planning document to detail Middletown’s goals over the next 10 years. The updated POCD will focus strongly on implementation, providing a clear approach to the delivery of the recommendations and action items to move the City from vision to reality.
